Emma Elizabeth Sheidy

Emma Elizabeth Sheidy, 98, of Wyomissing, passed away November 10, 2012, in her home.

She was the widow of Harvey C. Sheidy.

Born in Wyomissing, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Anna (Kurtz) Sweitzer. Emma attended Shillington High School.

She worked as a cafeteria worker for 25 years at Wyomissing High School, retiring in 1985. Emma was also very active in the Wyomissing Fire Company Women's Auxiliary, and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara G. Adams, widow of Bruce A. Adams, Sr., Wyomissing, daughter-in-law, Joan (Christel) Sheidy, West Lawn, and sister, Alta Dorothy (Sweitzer) Kress, Alabama. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Bruce A. Adams Jr., JoAnn C. (Sheidy) Melcher, Victoria G. (Adams) Eby, Linda M. (Sheidy) Fox, Kimberly G. (Adams) Saadi, Charlene M. (Sheidy) Boyer, and Ann Marie (Sheidy) Eschleman, nine great-grandchildren, and three great- great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by her son, Charles H. Sheidy, her brothers: William Sweitzer, Raymond Sweitzer, and Earl Sweitzer, and her sisters: Anna Mae Hoffa and Ruth Shurr.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
