Emily C. (Catania) Pankowski, 91, of West Wyomissing, died March 20, 2011 in Mifflin Center, Cumru Township.
She was the wife of Henry B. Pankowski who died January 28, 1983.
Born March 28, 1919 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Nunzia (Giaimo) Catania.
Emily was a 1938 graduate of Reading Evening High School.
She was employed as a folder with the former Berkshire Knitting Mills for 43 years, retiring in 1978. Emily was a member of The Polish Falcons and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Victor Emmanuel II.
Emily was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Reading.
She was an avid Phillies fan. In her younger years she enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and playing the piano. In her later years she liked watching TV, especially police and political shows. She also enjoyed traveling with her family to many areas of the U.S. and Italy.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy M., wife of Lawrence M. Englert of Spring Township and Linda A., wife of Irvin H. Brubacher of Brecknock Township.
Other survivors include four granddaughters: Barbara, wife of Matthew Trimber of Denver, PA; Victoria, wife of Thomas Miles of Ephrata, PA; Lori Brubacher of Brecknock Township and Kristina Englert, wife of Robert Sarnoski of Cumru Township.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, PA 19602. A viewing will be held from 8-9 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
