Emily M. Balthaser

Emily M. Balthaser, 85 of Hamburg died in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center Sunday evening, August 23, 2015. Her husbands, Wilbur D. Bailey on June 4, 1961 and Harold C. Balthaser, February 27, 2013, predeceased her. Emily was born in Shoemakersville and was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary L. (Adam) Sonon. Emily was a 1947 graduate of Hamburg High School and a 1948 graduate of Bryland Institute. She was a self- employed hairdresser for 53 years and also worked with her late husband as secretary/treasurer for Balthaser Motors Incorporated, Hamburg for many years. Emily was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Emily 's survivors include, one daughter, Karen J. (Bailey) wife of Thomas Wolff; two grandsons, Gregg husband of Kathryn Wolff, and Matthew Wolff; and One great-grandson, Daniel. A brother, John W. Sonon, Jr, also survives her. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 South 4th St., Hamburg. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday.
