Elvin J."Fiddling Jim" Brobst. Elvin J. Brobst, 93 of Hamburg died in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center on September 1st, 2011 Jim, as he was known to many was born in Coaldale and was the son of the late Oliver T. and Esther Emmaline (Derck) Brobst. His greatest joys were his family and fiddling. Jim was predeceased by two wives, Dorothy (Romanoski) Brobst and Rachael(Conway) Brobst. He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Hassler) Brobst, Hamburg. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He worked for Alcola Corporation for 26 years as a machine operator retiring in 1977. Jim was a life member of V.F.W. Post # 3975, Auburn and a member of the Centerport Lions Club. Jim is survived by his children, Richard Brobst, Florida; Edward J. Brobst, Richland, NJ; Robert R. Brobst, Millville, NJ; Bonnie Jacquet, Millville, NJ; Cynthia Nicholas, Millville, NJ; step daughters, Barbara Andes, Eugene, CT; Melinda Morello, Hamburg; step-sons, Larry Conway, DE; Robin Conway,PA; Michael Conway, IN. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy McGregor, and twelve brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 1:30 PM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th St. Hamburg, PA. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
