Elvia M. (Maynez) Cataldo, 72, of Wyomissing, died September 20, 2011 in Reading Hospital.
She was the wife of Anthony Cataldo, who she married on January 25, 1964.
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Alberto and Rita Maria (Grajales) Maynez.
She earned an Associate's Degree from Gordon College in Mexico City.
Elvia was simultaneously a tax consultant for H&R Block, a teaching assistant in business and bilingual studies at Reading High School and a court interpreter for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
In addition to her unwavering support of her family, she enjoyed helping others through her volunteer work.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Michael A., husband of Whitney Cataldo, Yorktown, VA; and Paul D., husband of Tarin Cataldo, Wayne, PA. Other survivors include two brothers, Jorge Leopoldo Maynez, Mexico City and Samuel Maynez, San Francisco, CA. Two grandchildren, David and Nicholas also survive her.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Edwardo, Alberto and Miguel.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave. West Reading Monday at 9:15 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
