Elton Butler

Elton "Butch" Butler, Jr., 81, of Reading, passed away on January 20, 2026, at Reading Hospital.

Born in Reading, PA, Butch was the son of the late Arnietta (Dorsey) Butler and Elton Butler, Sr. He was a graduate of Reading High School and went on to attend Penn State Berks. He proudly served as a member of the United States Army Reserve.

Butch built a long and respected career in human resources, where he worked for many years before retiring in 2010. He was known for his steady presence and dedication to his work.

On July 11, 1977, he married the love of his life, Patricia A. (Parenti) Butler, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; son, Jared Butler, husband of Jackie, of Newtown, PA; cherished grandsons, Jace and Carson; and daughter, Renee Glover, of Shillington. He is also survived by his brother, Russell Butler, husband of Deborah, of Shillington, PA.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Bolton.

Butch will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose life was marked by quiet strength and simplicity.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 a at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. A prayer service will follow at the Chapel of St. George in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Laureldale, PA 19605.
