Elsie M. Care

Elsie M. Care, 84, of Kutztown Manor, passed away December 19, 2011 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Her husband, Glenn A. Care, died in 1995.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lydia (Ecks) Schupp.

She was a 1945 graduate of Reading High School.

Elsie was very active in her community. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, worked in voters registration for several years, was active with the Hillside Playground Association and Rising Sun Athletic Association and was a member of the Lioness Club of West Wyomissing and the Reading Choral Society in the 50's and 60's.

She was a member of St. Stephen's, now, One U.C.C. Church, Shillington. She helped in their annual candy making and was a Sunday School teacher for 60 years.

Elsie is survived by her son, Robert A., husband of Cheryl L. Care, Bern Township. Also surviving are her sister, Marjorie, widow of Eugene Schwank, CA; her two grandchildren: Lauren M. and Bradley J. and her great-grandson, Nicolas A.

She was predeceased by her sister, Betty Bechtel.

Services will be Wednesday, December 28th at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601.
