Elsie G. Burkert

Elsie G. Burkert, 89 of Hamburg died in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center on Thursday, July 7th, 2011. She was born in Richmond Township and was the daughter of the late Elwood and Katie (Gehret) Burkert. She worked as a machine operator at Wright's Knitting Mill in Hamburg. She worked over 50 years and retired in 1996. Elsie is survived by a daughter, Sheila wife of Allen Bartlebaugh of Madisonburg, PA., 2 grandchildren, Jason husband of Corine Bartlebaugh of Rebersburg, PA and Jennifer Bartlebaugh of Madisonburg, PA and 1 great granddaughter, Mackenzie Bartlebaugh. She is also survived by four brothers, Melvin Burkert and Richard Burkert both of Hamburg, Nevin Burkert of Tilden Township and Arthur Burkert of Lenhartsville, and 1 sister Edna Davis of Lenhartsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15th at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th St. Hamburg. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
