Elora Anna Strickler

Elora Anna (Seitz) Strickler, 76, of Mt. Penn, died March 11, 2013, in Manatawny Manor, Pottstown. She was the wife of William Oscar Strickler.

Born in Hummelstown, she was the daughter of the late Orton Kermit and Ruth (Harrow) Seitz. She was a graduate of Hummelsown High School in 1954 and Millersville College in 1958.

Elora was an English teacher for 42 years for several Berks and Lancaster County School Districts.

She worked for the last 30 years as the Department Head English teacher for Mt. Penn and Antietam School District, retiring in 1999.

She loved teaching and enjoyed traveling to Europe with her Mt. Penn students.

Elora was a life-time active member of Pennside Presbyterian Church where she served on the church choir.

She loved quilting and knitting baby hats for the Reading Hospital.

She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading books.

Elora loved her family and friends.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, William F., husband of Kathy (Sattler) Strickler, Cumru Township and David E., husband of Laura (Luevano) Strickler, Charlottesville, VA; her brother, Kermit, husband of Betty Seitz, Hummelstown and five grandchildren, Alyssa P. Strickler, Blake E. Strickler, Sierra M. Strickler, Luke D. Strickler and Sawyer J. Strickler.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be private. Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601.
