Elna Woodward

Elna Eames Woodward, 80, of Cumru Township, passed away December 31, 2014 in The Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester, PA.

She was the beloved wife of William Woodward. They shared twenty wonderful years together.

Born January 15, 1934 in Pottstown, Elna was the daughter of the late A. Hurst and Mary C. (McQuillen) Eames.

She was a 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1955 graduate of Kutztown University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.

Elna was very devoted to her community and volunteered for several organizations. She was a member of The Junior League of Reading, Inc. and the President's Art Council of Alvernia College. She also served on the board of directors for the Berks County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters: Laurie A. wife of Thomas B. Breiner, Carmel, IN, and Beth A. wife of John H. McCarthy, Glen Mills, PA ; her step-son, Jeffrey T. and wife Diane Woodward, Bethlehem, PA; her grandchildren: Katherine, Eric, and Gregory Breiner and Matthew, Elizabeth, and Amy McCarthy; her step-grandchildren: Drew and wife Jayme Woodward, and Jessica wife of Jeremy Gubich and her step-great-grandchildren: Gaige, Jayden, and Kylie.

A Prayer Service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in The Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale, PA 19605, with entombment to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Berks Catholic High School, 955 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
