Ellen Maggie (Adam) Moatz, 93, died May 3, 2008 in her Muhlenberg Township home. She was a 67 year resident of Muhlenberg Township.

She was married November 2, 1935 to the late Earl Wilson Moatz, who died June 1, 1999.

Born in Richmond Township on July 17, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Ida (Sunday) Adam.

Ellen was an 8th grade graduate of Kutztown Area School District and became an honorary member of the graduating class of 2006 because of her love of education and her many life experiences and achievements.

She was known for making some of the best sticky buns and fasnachts in all of Berks County.

Ellen was employed with the Berkshire Knitting Mills as a full-fashion hosiery seamer for a number of years and later worked in the same capacity from her home for an additional four years.

She and her husband owned and operated Moatz's GE Appliance Store, Spring Valley, Muhlenberg Township from 1948 until retirement in 1982. She was the other half of the business and she helped in buying, selling and delivering of all appliances.

Ellen was a lifetime and oldest member of Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, Richmond Township, where she and her husband were active church members including remodeling and contracting work for the church. Ellen was also involved in Women's Ministry, Church Counsel, Church representative to Topton Home and Muhlenberg College and a Sunday School officer.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law: Elizabeth G., wife of Paul A. Fink of Tilden Township; Thelma E. Unangst of Spring Township and Dolores L., wife of Thomas J. Collins, of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include two sisters: Verna (Adam), widow of Clifford Hartranft and Laila (Adam), widow of Paul Wesner, both of Richmond Township.

Ellen is also survived by six grandchildren: Debra A. (Fink), wife of Richard L. Heffner of Reading; Steven P. Fink husband of Theresa Schneider of Waitsfield, VT; Kent A. husband of Mariela (Salinas) Unangst of Laytonsville, MD; Kelly A. (Unangst) wife of William T. Gilfert of Wernersville; Benjamin R. husband of Ruth T. (Taylor) Zentner of Adamstown, Lancaster County and Joel W. Zentner of Blandon.

There are also eight great grandchildren: Shawn M. Unangst, William T. Gilfert, Justin C. Gilfert, Adalie G. Zentner, Andrew J. Zentner, Austin R. Zentner, Owen T. Zentner and Aaden J. Zentner.

She was predeceased by two grandchildren: A. Christopher Zentner on July 15, 1979 and A. Nathan Zentner on May 15, 1976 and a great grandson; Christopher R. Gilfert on September 9, 1997.

Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in Zion (Moselem) Lutheran Church, 340 Moselem Church Road, (Richmond Township), Kutztown, PA 19530. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the Church. Burial will be in Moselem Church Cemetery.
