Ellen R. Lukens

Ellen Ruth Lukens, 73 of 1642 Cleveland Avenue, Wyomissing died of natural causes July 25th at 7:23 p.m. in her residence.

She was married August 5, 1950 to Norman G. "Bud" Lukens.

Born in Wyomissing, Pa she was a daughter of the late Robert O. and Elsie (Smith) Jepsen.

Lukens was a 1946 graduate of Wyomissing High School and a 1950 graduate of Lebanon Valley College.

She was employed as a music teacher in the Reading School District for a number of years. She later volunteered at the Childrens Home of Reading where she was on the Board of Directors from 1980 to 1990 and was the Director of Volunteer Services for four years.

Lukens was last employed for seven years at Wyomissing Institute as a music teacher until her retirement in 2000.

She is survived by a daughter; Jeanne S. (Lukens) widow of Christopher L. Worley of North Heidelberg Township and two sons; Robert W. husband of Penny Lukens of Wyomissing and Mark P. Lukens of St. Paul, Minn.

Others survivors include a brother; Robert O. husband of Janet Jepsen of Wayne, Pa and four grandchildren; James N. Lukens, Mark O. Lukens, Keegan K. Worley and Rory R. Worley.

She was predeceased by a brother; James A. Jepsen.

Services will be private. Entombment will be in Laureldale Mausoleum, Tuckerton. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Children's Home of Reading, 1010 Centre Avenue Reading, Pa 19601. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
