Ellen A. Koppenhofer, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2007, surrounded by her entire loving family in her Wyomissing home. Ellen fought a courageous battle against ovarian cancer never losing her faith, her dignity, her beauty and her boundless love for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roy and three sons; Paul husband of Sandra, Wyomissing Hills; Philip husband of Deanna, West Chester; and Jon husband of Dawn, Wyomissing. She is also survived by five cherished grandchildren, James, Jacob, Matthew, Jessica and Katie.

Born in St. Albans, NY on September 2, 1938, Ellen was the daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Klaum) Stubenvoll, and the sister of the late John Stubenvoll. She graduated from Garden City (NY) High School and attended Wagner College. She worked as the Executive Secretary for Lee H. Bristol, Jr. who was Vice President of Public Relations for Bristol-Meyers Co. in New York City, and later assisted her husband in starting Berkshire Consulting Services and Pennswood Partners, Inc., both in Wyomissing.

Ellen was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing where she served as a member of the Church Council and as Chair of the Social Ministry Committee. She also played in the bell choir. Before relocating to Berks County in 1983, she served on the Church Council of and chaired the Christian Education Committee of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in New Hyde Park, NY in which role she was instrumental in starting Gloria Dei's Christian Pre-School.

A memorial service celebrating Ellen's life will be held on Saturday, November 3, at 2 p.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.
