Ellen Elizabeth (Epler) Ream Trout, 85, formerly of Shillington and Blandon, died November 25, 2008 in Berks Heim, Bern Township.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth E. Ream, who died August 16, 1978 and by her second husband, Carl J. Trout, who died January 30, 1993.
Born in Reading, PA on June 24, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John F. and M. Elizabeth (Moore) Epler.
She was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School.
Ellen was employed 10 years as a secretary with the YMCA, Reading, retiring in 1985. She previously worked at the former Loews Theater.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, West Reading, where she was choir member for 66 years and a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Ellen was also a past secretary for the Berks County Sunday School Association.
She and her first husband, Kenneth are survived by their three children that they raised in Shillington: James K. Ream Sr., husband of Mary E. (Russell) Ream of Sinking Spring; Carol A. (Ream) widow of Jennaro Pullano of Georgetown, Del. and Dianne E. (Ream) Titus of Georgetown, Del.
Other survivors include five siblings: James Epler of Aurora, Co.; Miriam (Epler) Hiester of Reading; Patricia Ann (Epler) Ely of Winters, CA; Nancy (Epler) Sanner of Kutztown and Daisy M. (Epler) Pensinger of Topton.
There are also six grandchildren: Richard Lombardo Jr., Jacqueline Orcutt, Jeffrey Fisher, Heather Reigel, James K. Ream Jr., and Joshua Ream and three great grandchildren.
Ellen was predeceased by two siblings: John Epler and Margaret Ball and two granddaughters: Wendy Sue Fisher and Connie Lyn Fisher.
Services will be held Monday at 11:00am in Bethany Lutheran Church, 336 Franklin Street, West Reading, PA 19611, with Rev. Abera B. Hellemo officating. Viewings will be held Sunday 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading and Monday 10:30 - 11:00 am in the church. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. Contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
