Elizabeth A. Thompson, a retired parochial school teacher, died of natural causes April 2 in Lancaster General Hospital, where she had been admitted earlier in the day.
Thompson, 61, of Maple Street, Mohnton, was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Thompson, on Jan. 26, 1993.
She had been employed since 1960 by the Diocese of Allentown as an elementary school teacher in several schools including St. Joseph and St. Paul, both of Reading, and most recently as a kindergarten teacher at St. Catharine of Siena School, Mount Penn, from 1978 until her retirement in 2001.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Johanna (Adams) Vallish.
Thompson was also employed at the St. Catharine Parish Center, Mount Penn, last working March 30.
She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Thompson was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township.
Surviving are a daughter, Maria (Thompson) Hoover, Mountville, Lancaster County, and a son, Michael, Philadelphia.
Other survivors include two sisters, Helen (Vallish) Pastor, Reading, and Ramona (Vallish) Portor, San Jose, Calif.; and a brother, Thomas Vallish, Reading.
There is also a grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 6:30 p.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Church. Entombment will be private in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
