Elizabeth Sell

Elizabeth "Betty" (Matz) Sell, 91, passed away July 30, 2025, at The Heritage of Green Hills, Shillington.

Her husband, Fred C. Sell, died on February 27, 2006.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Clara (Stutzman) Matz.

She was a graduate of Reading High School.

Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Overhead Door of Reading and later for the Reading School District until retiring in 1996.

She cherished her time with friends at St. Marks United Church of Christ, where she engaged in activities such as quilting, candy making, and various other enjoyable pursuits.

Betty is survived by her son Jack, husband of Candy Strauss-Sell, DE; three grandchildren: Derek, husband of Jennifer Sell; Ashley Strauss, fiancé of Josh Renner; and Matthew, husband of Jasmine Strauss; and three great-grandchildren: Chase Sell, Avery Renner, and Payton Renner.

She was predeceased by her son Glenn A. Sell on April 9, 2025; three siblings: Virginia Seigfred February 2020, Mary Shoffner, May 2007, and Marilyn Werner, July 2023; and her granddaughter, Amy Sell, March 2014.

A Celebration of Life Services will be Celebrated Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, Burial will be at Sinking Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
