Elizabeth J. Smith

Elizabeth J. Smith, of Reading, passed away January 15, 2014 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the wife of William H. Smith, whom she married 54 years ago.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. and Johanna (Bockweg) Sowa.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Reading High School.

She had worked for Josh Early, Reading, and American Bank.

Elizabeth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Reading.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Susan E., wife of Lee A. Kerschner, Wernersville. Also surviving are her sister, Christine L. Sowa, Reading; and her cousins: Joyce Reese, Shillington; and Kathy Long, Allentown.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her brother, John Sowa.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 521 Walnut St, Reading, PA 19601. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
