Elizabeth L. Heckler

Surrounded by family, Elizabeth L. Heckler, 90, passed away on January 3, 2022. Formerly of West Reading, she was the wife of Ammon T. Heckler, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage before his death in 2021.

Elizabeth is survived by her four children: Gerald Heckler, husband to Jill, Richard Heckler, Linda Calderon, wife to George, David Heckler, husband of the late Kristine, and Thomas Heckler, who predeceased her in 2016; six grandchildren: Matthew, Michele, Jillian, Christopher, Amanda, and Melissa; seven great-grandchildren: Paige, Autumn, Connor, Brenna, Kaylee, Maisy, and Betty.

Elizabeth cared deeply about the Borough of West Reading and was a member of Borough Council, West Reading Playground Association, West Reading Hospital Auxiliary, Westside Seniors, and Bethany Lutheran Church. She worked for 18 years as a nurse at the Reading Hospital and Highlands. Favorite hobbies included watercolor and oil painting and she enjoyed participating in art classes at the Wyomissing Institute of Art. Most summers were spent at the West Reading Pool with her friends.

Due to covid concerns, a Memorial Service will be held at Kuhn Funeral Home in April. Elizabeth will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to extend deepest thanks to the caregivers from Country Meadows, Berks Heim, and Tower Health, as well as the caring support staff and nurses from Tower Health Hospice.
