Elizabeth (Matuszak) Glembocki, 96, passed Tuesday, April 7, 2015, surrounded by loving family.
Born in Reading, PA on May 19, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anastasia (Poziemski) Matuszak.
Elizabeth and her husband of 71 years founded Paragon Optical Company in 1972, with Elizabeth serving as Secretary-Treasurer until her retirement in 1996.
Together, they formulated plans for the expansion and diversification of Precision Optics.
In the early days, Elizabeth was active in volunteer work; as a Den Mother in Boy Scouts; she also belonged to Central Catholic Mothers Club where she organized an art class for mothers. She was active in League of Women Voters, Catholic Women's Club, Community Chest Drive, and United Heart Fund.
She also volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital, Reading Hospital and Berks Heim.
Lastly, Elizabeth obtained the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for Berks Heim.
Elizabeth loved music and travel. She played the piano, the organ, accordion, mandolin, and the ukulele, all by ear.
She traveled to Poland, Japan, Hawaii, Germany, England, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and the Caribbean. The family always joked that mom's bags were always packed. Elizabeth's final journey was to join Pop on his birthday, April 7.
She is survived by daughters, Claire McVaugh, Reading, and Patricia Hohl, Wyomissing, and son, Ted Glembocki, Robesonia. There are 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, Thaddeus Glembocki, who died October 1, 2008, as well as four brothers, and six sisters.
She is survived by sister, Mary Kozlowski, of Manor Care Sinking Spring, and a brother Louis.
Services will be held Monday, April 13, at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, with entombment to follow in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
