Elizabeth Jane Geiger died peacefully on February 17, 2025 with her children by her side. Elizabeth was
born on October 14, 1926 in Bernville, Pennsylvania to Levi A. Zweizig and Margaret A. (Lesher) Zweizig.
She was the youngest of three children.
Elizabeth (BJ to those who knew her) grew up in Reading and attended Reading High School. She
married Charles Samuel Geiger on July 19, 1952, and raised two children. Charlie's career took them
from Lancaster, PA to Somerville, NJ, Findley, OH and back to Reading after his retirement. They
travelled extensively throughout the world, and spent ten years travelling throughout North America in
a recreational vehicle often overwintering in South Padre Island, TX and Little Duck Key, FL. They moved
to Phoebe Berks in 2011.
While raising her two children, BJ was involved in numerous community service and volunteer activities.
In Reading, she was particularly active with the Reading historical society and the Calvary United Church
of Christ where she assisted with Christmas and Easter decorations as well as participating in other
church activities. BJ was devoted to her family, generous, fun-loving and outgoing. She had an enviable
memory, and could provide detailed accounts of her travels to friends and family years afterwards. She
loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess who made everyone feel welcome and at ease. She was
also an avid gardener, excelled at home decorating and crafts, and became an accomplished amateur
painter.
BJ was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her
husband and her siblings (Jeanette Stettler and M. Leroy Zweizig). She is survived by her sons Stephen
C. Geiger (Jane C. Hopkins) of Arlington, VA and Peter J. Geiger (Chaleewan Aubboon) of Surin, Thailand.
A private graveside service will be held at a future date with interment at Laureldale Cemetery in
Reading, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Avenue,
Reading, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are being handled by Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc.
