Eli Benton Snyder

Eli B. "Skip" Snyder Jr., 80, of Wyomissing, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 9, 2024, with his family by his side.

Born in 1944 to the late Eli B. and Helen M. Snyder, Skip is survived by his wife, Peggy, with whom he would have celebrated 58th anniversary on May 28. In addition to his wife, Eli is survived by his sisters, Patricia Hatt of Gouglersville, PA and Barbara Brantner of Palm Bay, FL, along with six beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his cherished son, Frank Snyder.

Eli was fond of horses. As a teenager he could be found riding horses that his father bought and stabled at their College Avenue home in Wernersville. Later in life he kept his interest in horses by handicapping them and following the road to the Kentucky Derby and the Breeders Cup Races. Both Eli and Peggy are avid football fans and especially the Philadelphia Eagles.

Peggy and Eli were very fond of their many trips to Nantucket, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. Snorkeling and exploring the beaches were their focus.

Eli graduated from Wilson High School Class of 1962. He went on to attend one year at Valley Forge Military Academy and graduated from Shepherd College (now Shepherd University) with a bachelor's degree in economics.

Post college Eli was employed by Berkshire International as assistant to the Key Account Sales Manager, New York City calling on the Major Department Stores. He had the opportunity of assisting in the introduction of panty hose and when asked why he left Berkshire, he would comically say, "there were too many ups and downs."

After Berkshire he was employed by 3M Company Microfilm Systems Department, based in Wilmington, DE which then led to the forming of Mid Atlantic Microfilm, Inc, as CEO.

He then worked and retired from E.I. Dupont in New York City and later, Océ USA (now Cannon) in Philadelphia. His major accomplishment at DuPont was receiving 1 of 37 "Marketing Excellence Awards" with over 100,000 employees eligible (including CONOCO). At Océ he received the level of "Century Club" 9 of 13 years.

After 35 years away from the Reading Area, Eli and Peggy moved back home with their son eventually joining them.
