Eleanor R. Friend

Eleanor R. (Schadler) Friend, 78, of Spring Township, died December 8, 2008 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the widow of Ralph A. Friend, Jr., who died August 1, 2005.

Born in Northampton, PA on April 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harold A. Schadler Sr. and Minnie B. (Zellner) Schadler.

She was a 1948 graduate of Allentown High School.

Eleanor was employed a number of years with the former Western Electric, Allentown.

She was a member of Central Moravian Church, Bethlehem.

Eleanor was a charter member of the West Wyomissing Lioness Club and past president of the Club, a position she held for 11 years.

She is survived by three daughters: Carol A. (Friend), wife of Richard J. Flederbach of Honesdale, Wayne County; Linda L. (Friend), wife of Ronald A. Baker of Spring Township and Gloria J. Friend of Sinking Spring.

Eleanor is also survived by a brother, Hillard L. Schadler of Naples, Florida.

Other survivors include three grandchildren: Richard J. Flederbach, Jr.; Jennifer L. Baker and Ashley M. Baker and three great grandchildren: Kale A. Baker; Kolby M. Delgado and Ana R. Delgado.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Scott J. Flederbach, who died November 4, 1985 and three siblings: Dean Schadler; Harold Schadler and Thelma E. Hafer.

Services will be Friday at 10:00 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with Rev. Dr. Douglas W. Caldwell officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Friday 9:30 am until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
