Elaine B. Holbrook

Elaine Barbara Holbrook (née Swist, formerly Kotran) of Shillington, previously of Reading, Philadelphia, and Kenhorst passed away on April 1, 2023, at the age of 79. Beloved mother of Joseph Kotran. Loving grandmother of Abigail Marie, Jack Theodore, and Caroline Elizabeth Kotran.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Stephen Kotran, her son Stephen Kotran Jr, and her parents Joseph Theodore and Sophie Elizabeth Swist (née Michalak).

Elaine was born on October 5, 1943, on Fayette Avenue in Kenhorst, PA. Her parents were second-generation immigrants from Poland. She graduated from Governor Mifflin High School. She later studied to be a religious woman at a convent. In 1973 she married Stephen Kotran shortly after meeting while working together at the Royer Greaves School for the Blind in Paoli, PA. They resided in North Central, Philadelphia until her first husband's passing in 1988. After Stephen passed, she returned to the Reading area. In 1996 she married John Kimsey Holbrook. They enjoyed travel, dining, and leisure together. In retirement she resided at Mifflin Center in Shillington, PA where she received outstanding care and compassion. The family would like to praise the team at Mifflin Center. They are exceptional. Elaine will be missed dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to her graveside service, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605.
