Edwin R. Mogel, 83, of Reading passed away on August 14, 2024, of natural causes.
Born in Reading on January 14, 1941 to Edwin Mogel and Eleanor (Evans), he was known as "Pop" to those who loved him. While he lived his life in Reading, his spirit of adventure was always apparent as he traveled the country as a semi-truck driver and later by taking his family on all manner of vacations - whether a fondly remembered road trip with his grandchildren or an annual family vacation at Myrtle Beach. He even surprised Jeanette with a trip to Hawaii!
He was a dedicated family man and worked hard to provide for them, retiring after a long career at Car-Tech. Ed was an avid golfer playing and placing in many local tournaments. He enjoyed the views of spending his time with his friends. He also taught his grandchildren the game as well.
He was as sweet and loving a man as you could imagine - and always equipped with a joke (or a few) to bring a smile to someone elses' face. He never forgot anyone in his family no matter where in the country they were.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette (Raser) Mogel, and step daughter, Robbin L. (High) Vilardo; his siblings, Dennis Mogel, and Suzanne McGee; three grandchildren: his granddaughter Tricia L. Coss; two great granddaughters: Jacilya Iyana, significant other Gianni Tejada, and Jalecia Marie, significant other, Mario Irizarri; and three great-great-granddaughters: Amina I. Tejada, and Gianinna I. Irizarri-Coss, and Kailani A. Irizarri-Coss. His grandsons: Daniel B. Vilardo, wife Cristalle (Martin) Vilardo; and their two children Lillian R. and Caroline F. of Chesterfield, VAl and Andrew J. Vilardo, and his two daughters Delylah I. and Samara L.
He was preceded in death by his step children, Patricia A. (High) Hyland, and Jack D. High.
We love you pop.
