Edward John Swierczewski, 78, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Reading, PA on October 1, 1935, he was the son of the late John E. and Dorothy F (Limpas) Swierczewski. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Thomas J Swierczewski, who died in 1973.
Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathryn F (Sapiego) Swierczewski; his daughter, Dr. Barbara S Snyder, wife of Thomas Snyder, of Marlton, New Jersey; his son, Dr. Mark E Swierczewski, husband of Sharon A Swierczewski, Lower Heidelberg Township; and 3 grandchildren, Tamara C Snyder, Edward A (Eddie) Swierczewski and Christian M (CC) Swierczewski.
He was a 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Reading PA, where he was an outstanding baseball player, and 3 year varsity letterman. Signed to a contract by the Chicago White Sox, he ultimately decided not to accept due to a shoulder injury.
He was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania Wharton Extension. He was employed at Rockwell International (formerly Textile Machine Works) for 44 years, retiring as Manufacturing Manager in 1994. During his time at Rockwell, he lived for 2 years in Almelo, Holland. He also traveled extensively to Shanghai, China as part of a joint venture with the Chinese government. He was a former member of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturer's Association of Berks County.
He served two years active duty in US Army security, serving as an MP stationed at Fort Richie, Maryland.
Affectionately known as the "Chief", he was an avid golfer and former member of Reading Country Club; he had his first and only Hole-in-One on December 7, 1999.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola RC Church on Saturday, March 29th 2014 at 10 am. A visitation will be held in the Church from 9:00 am until time of Mass. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
