Edward "Mac" McFarland

Edward N. McFarland, affectionately known as "Mac", passed away on December 3, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was the beloved husband of Ramona (Althouse) McFarland. They shared 27 years together.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Clara (Bennett) McFarland. After graduating from Mars Area High School, Mac joined the Army and proudly served his country. He continued to serve his community as a Pennsylvania State Trooper until his retirement in 1991. 

Mac had a passion for being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, and golfing. He also took pride in running Camp Cadet, providing leadership to youth interested in law enforcement careers. He revived various plaques and awards will instructing at Camp Cadet. Mac was also a member of several clubs including the FOP #65, the National Rifle Association, State Police Retirees Association, Mohnton Fish and Game Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Mac loved to visit his hunting campsite, " Camp Shangrila", spending time with friends and family, and watching the elk cross the paths. Camp Shangrila was his pride and joy, and he is now at peace.

In addition to his wife, Ramona, Mac's memory will be cherished by his children: Gregory McFarland, Renee Fisher, and Brad Fichthorn; his grandchildren: Samuel, Darien, Noah, Avery, Harper, and Peyton; as well as his sister, Barbara Walker. He is predeceased by his brothers, Gary McFarland and Jordan Pellis. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611, with burial to follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
