Edward J. Loomis

Edward J. Loomis, 87, of Claymont, DE, died August 12, 2014, in Phoebe Berks.

He was the husband of Eleanor J. (Wojciechowski) Loomis.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Gertrude M. (Stoeber) Loomis.

Edward was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in1945 and attended Villanova University.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII.

Edward worked for Reading Railroad Company for 24 years. He later worked for Amtrak, Wilmington, DE for 12 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Claymont, DE.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Nancy E., wife of Kurt Freiberger, Austin, TX, Barbara J. MacRae, Scranton and Theresa, wife of Daniel Cafoncelli, Shillington; two siblings, Donald C., husband of Patricia Loomis, Mohnton and Mary E., wife of J. Patrick Prendergast, Whiting, NJ.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Laura C. MacRae, David C. MacRae, Jr., Stephanie L. Cafoncelli, Douglass J. Cafoncelli and Rebecca E. Freiberger and two great-grandchildren, David C. MacRae III and Brandon S. MacRae.

Edward was predeceased by two sons, David J. Loomis and John E. Loomis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, 42 Kerrick Road Shillington, Pa 19607. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop 237, 1755 Acorn Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Edward J.
