Edward Mark Holleran

Edward Mark Holleran, 57 of Alsace Township, died September 28, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Joan Louise (Yagielniskie) Holleran, whom he married April 25, 1987.

Born March 9, 1957 in Danville, he was a son of John Edward and Clare Marie (Medalis) Holleran of Ashland.

Edward was a 1975 graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School, Ashland and earned an associate degree in Specialized Business through McCann School of Business.

He was employed in the VAR department at Carpenter Technology for over 15 years, last working in March of 2013. He was also employed with Norfolk Southern Corporation, Limerick Generating Station and Acme Markets.

Ed was a former member of Berks Divers Association and was a member of Oley Valley Fish and Game Association and Shartlesville Fish and Game Association.

He enjoyed woodworking, camping at Chincoteague Island, VA and Myrtle Beach, SC; photography, gardening, scuba diving, target and trap shooting and watching and feeding birds.

Ed was called "MacGyver" by co-workers, as he was a "Mr. Fix-it" who enjoyed being able to fix the problem and help others. A very generous and humble man, Ed's last gift was giving eyesight to two people by donating his corneas through the Gift-Of-Life Program.

Ed will be missed by Murphy and other family cats.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are his brother, Dennis J. Holleran, husband of Kathy and his three nephews, Tyler, Luke and Alex Holleran.

Other survivors include his brother-in-law, Paul Yagielniskie, husband of Trish, and their two children, Scott and Ashley.

Ed was predeceased by his brother Kevin P. Holleran who died September 8, 1970.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley. Viewings will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 and Thursday morning from 10-11. Burial will be in Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
