Edward R. Emery

Edward "Ed" R. Emery, 98, passed away peacefully in his home on August 29, 2026.

Born in Honey Brook, PA, he was the son of the late Clayton Emery and Margaret (Ranck) Emery. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughter Lisa, and granddaughter Emma. His two stepchildren, Michael (fiancé of Michele) and Meredith (wife of Stephen), and four step grandchildren, also survive him.

Ed was raised on a small farm by a single mother, widowed at age 22, during the Great Depression. Due to his father's sudden death at a young age, Ed quickly learned the value of hard work. On the farm, there were many chores, including feeding the animals, milking the cows, and weeding the vegetable garden.

After attending a two-room schoolhouse through grade six, Ed graduated from Honeybrook High School as one of a class of 14. A few years later, he received his BS in Civil Engineering from Penn State. He then began a successful career in the energy industry, moving to Florida and eventually back to Pennsylvania. He founded Reco and worked with a partner for over fifteen years with over 150 locations throughout four states. Ed later purchased William R. Gift, a home heating and cooling business in Boyertown, PA, that was a staple in the community under his leadership for over 30 years. He was a modest man, never taking credit for his success, always saying that he had just been lucky.

Ed was deeply devoted to his family. During their marriage, Ed and Barbara enjoyed taking walks together, riding bikes, and watching Florida sunsets. Ed's favorite pastimes were reading on the beach and being his family's "fixer-upper" - he could repair almost anything.

After working hard all his life, Ed retired in 2024 at age 96. He was an amazing man, a true American success story, and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother Frederick and first wife Louise (Merkel).

The family wishes to thank Caring Hospice Services for their support during this difficult time.
