Edward V. "Boom" Correll, 88 of Hamburg died March 11th in his home. His wife Joan M. (Norton) Correll died December 24, 1998. Edward was born in Hamburg and was the son of the late Charles and Ardella (Lerch) Correll. "Boom" was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was the personal chauffer for Winston Churchill and Dwight Eisenhower in England during the war. After the war "Boom" worked from 1945 until 1968 as a truck driver for Pilot Freight Carriers in New Jersey. He then worked for the Hamburg Broom Works until his retirement in 1985. Ed was a member of the Hamburg Moose Lodge #523, Hamburg Game Association, Hamburg American Legion Post #637 and the Keystone Social Club. Ed is survived by one daughter, Cecilia M. Mirabelli, Concord, NC, one step daughter, Gaynel Duncan, Levittown, two sons, Donald Wagner, Atlanta, GA, Robert Norton, Hamburg, one step son, Randy Saunders, Harrisburg, three brothers, Leon Correll, Hamburg, Paul Correll, Port Clinton, Larry Correll, West Palm Beach, Fl, four sisters, Georgia Specht and Armistine Hartman, Hamburg, Martha Etchberger, Summerville, Fl and Patricia Cook, Piketon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. Hamburg, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
