Edward J. Betack Jr., 58, of Victory Circle, Bern Township, was dead on arrival of natural causes July 9 in St. Joseph Medical Center.
He was the husband of Elaine E. (Vojtasek) Betack.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Edward J. Betack Sr. and Mildred (Mistichen) Betack.
Betack was employed for the past 10 years as a substitute teacher in the Reading School District.
He was a 1962 graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, and a 1971 graduate of West Chester State College.
Betack was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Reading Kenhorst Boulevard Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he was the assistant sabbath-school superintendent and adult sabbath-school teacher.
Betack is also survived by two sons, Michael E., and Bradley J., both at home; and a daughter, Natalie E. (Betack) Chandler, Harrisburg.
Other survivors include three sisters: Helen (Betack) Drye, Pine Grove; Carol Betack, Port Carbon; and Joan (Betack) Trayak, Palo Alto, all in Schuylkill County.
There is also a grandson.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Kenhorst Boulevard Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Lebanon County. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
