Edward Anthony Bereski

Edward Anthony Bereski, 98, formerly of Mount Carmel, passed away Friday, June 15 at the Mifflin Center Nursing Facility in Shillington.

He was born in Mount Carmel, a son of the late Frank and Anna Bereski and the husband of the former Cecelia Bereski.

He was married Nov. 30, 1946, at Mother of Consolation Church in Mount Carmel.

He and Cecelia raised their three children in Mount Carmel and moved to Reading in May 1986, where they-resided with their son, and his family for 27 years.

He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Plowville.

Ed served 4 years in the armed services and as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division experienced many battles in the WWII European Campaign. He received a Purple Heart and many distinguished medals for exemplary service.

He enjoyed football, watching all his grand kids grow, and most of all golf. He was called Pap Pap and was loved so much and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

His faith was a large part of his life and he lived accordingly.

He is survived by his sister, Irene Williams of Harrisburg, and his brother Norbert Brezicki of Jupiter,Fl, three children, Edward J. Bereski and his wife, Rochelle, of Wyomissing, Susan Wargo, of Doylestown, and Marilyn Bereski, of Reading; his six grandchildren, Leighann Blatt and her husband, Ryan, Kristin Wargo, Tiana Bereski, Angela Bereski, Kalani Bereski and Gillian Wargo; a great-granddaughter, Gracie Blatt and a great-grandson Samuel Blatt and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Colross and Maryann Stevens and four brothers, Henry, Robert, Bernie, and Alfred.

His family will be holding a private memorial service in his honor as he and his wife Cecelia await their burial at Arlington National Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
