Edward J. Barchie, 88, of West Reading, passed away October 6, 2015 at the Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Karen L. (Graeff) Barchie.
Born in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Anna Barchie.
He served in the Philippines during WWII in the Fighting Seabees 99th Construction Battalion.
Edward served as Vice President of City Stores, New York, New York and worked at the West Reading Drug Store for over 20 years as a maintenance supervisor.
He was an avid woodworker.
The entire Barchie family would like to thank Heartland Hospice, Reading Hospital nurses and aides for their compassion and care.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Bradley K. Nuss, Philadelphia, Janet L., wife of William McIntyre, Carol A., wife of William Schumacher, all of Barnegat, NJ and Shelly L., wife of Eric Miller, West Reading; his brother, James Barchie; four grandchildren, Kristine Kuczko, Ethan Miller, Evan Miller and Callie Grace Nuss and two great-grandchildren, Brian Kuczko and Jacob Kuczko.
Edward was predeceased by two sons, Kevin Barchie and James Barchie and his sister, Irene.
A Memorial Service will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
