Edward F. Searfoss, .

Edward F. Searfoss, III., 64, of Birdsboro, died April 2, 2010 in Pinehurst, NC. He was the husband of Carol-Ann (Jagielski) Searfoss, whom he married on June 15, 1968.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward F., Jr., and May E. (Staab) Searfoss.

He was a 1963 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1967 graduate of St. Joseph's University with a BS in Marketing. Later, he earned his MS in Education from Temple University.

Mr. Searfoss was an elementary school teacher for two years in the Philadelphia School System. Later taught for 30 years in the Reading School District at Lauer's Park Elementary and 13th & Green Elementary, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Twp.

Edward was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was their former insurance agent in both the Reading and Pottstown areas.

He loved golf and was a past member of Golden Oaks and Reading Country Club. At the time of his death, he was a member of Moselem Spring Golf Club and Pinehurst Country Club. Edward also had residences in Pinehurst, NC and The Villages, FL.

He was proud of re-starting the golf team at Central Catholic in 1997, where he was head coach for several years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Christine A. (Searfoss) Moser, wife of Russell L. Moser, III, Gilbertsville; and Michael E. Searfoss, Reading. Three grandchildren survive him, Anastasia L. Moser, Michael D. Moser and Jacob R. Moser.

Nothing was more important to him than his family especially his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catharine's Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edward's name to: St. Catharine's Memorial Fund, 2427 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
