Edmond A. "Ed" Ettinger, 83, passed away February 26, 2018, in Stoneridge Retirement Living Community.
He was the beloved husband of Lenora L. Ettinger, with whom he celebrated 21 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Edward and Anna (Cavanaugh) Ettinger.
Ed was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School. He graduated from Albright in 1955 with a BA in History and German, Temple University, where he received his D.Ed. and University of Connecticut where he received his Masters.
He was a History Professor for over 40 years at Muhlenberg High School, Mansfield College, Penn State-Schuylkill , and last employed by Mercer College until his retirement in 1998.
Ed was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a film historian, and loved collecting baseball cards, golden age comics and classic movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Nathan L. Knauer, Napa, CA; and Anita L. Sullivan, Alpharetta , GA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brooke Knauer, Max Knauer, Kate Sullivan and Jack Sullivan.
Services will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA. with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Edmond to the Yocum Library at Reading Area Community College, 10 S. 2nd St., Reading, PA 19602.
