Edith L. Stoltzfus

Edith L. Stoltzfus, 71, of Fredericksville Road, Mertztown, died April 3 at 3:32 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient since March 10.

She was the wife of Noah S. Stoltzfus, pastor of Zion Mennonite Church, Robeson Township.

Born in Endicott, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Lula (Marean) Spencer.

Stoltzfus was employed as an elementary teacher in Lima (N.Y.) Christian School from 1974 to 1986 and as director of Christian education by Landstown Community Church, Virginia Beach, Va., from 1987 to 1999.

She was a 1952 graduate of Elim Bible Institute, Lima, and a 1972 graduate of the State University of New York, Geneseo.

Stoltzfus was a member of Zion Mennonite Church.

She is also survived by a son, K. Daniel, Elizabeth, N.J., and a daughter, Pamela S. (Stoltzfus) Thimsen, Apex, N.C.

Other survivors include two brothers, Andrew Spencer, Arkport, N.Y., and Phillip Spencer, Payson, Ariz.; and two sisters, Marion (Spencer) Seda, Dover, Del., and Priscilla (Spencer) Crosby, Flagstaff, Ariz.

There are also five grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Zion Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Oley Mennonite Cemetery, Oley Township. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
