Edith G. Nye

Edith G. Nye, retired elementary teacher and principal, died Nov. 11 at 7:30 a.m. in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center Inc., Wernersville, where she had resided since Oct. 21.

Nye, 87, Wyomissing, was predeceased by her husband, Stanley R. Nye, on Feb. 7, 1999.

She was employed for 34 years as a teacher and as a teacher and principal at St. Lawrence Elementary School in the Exeter School District, retiring June 15, 1973.

Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Walter E. and Edith N. (Levan) Griesemer.

Nye was a 1937 graduate of Wilson High School and received an associate degree in education from Kutztown State Teacher's College. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1950 from Kutztown.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing.

Nye was a former membership chairwoman of the Berkshire Seniors.

Surviving is a brother, Walter Griesemer, Wyomissing.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
