Edith Ardell (Crossland) Shoemaker, 92, formerly of Laureldale, died August 10, 2009 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
She was the widow of Clifford Clinton Shoemaker, who died April 7, 2000.
Born in Reading, PA on September 25, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Rose (Dickinson) Crossland.
She was a member of Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale, where she was a member of the Women's Guild, Ladies Auxiliary and a former Brownie Leader and Sunday School teacher.
Edith was a matron for 15 years with Metropolitan Edison Company, retiring in 1977.
She is survived by a son, Brian C., husband of Constance L. (Miller) Shoemaker and a grandson, Scott C. Shoemaker, all of Boyertown.
There is also a brother surviving, Frederick D., widower of Sarah Crossland of Laureldale.
Edith was predeceased by seven siblings.
Services will be Tuesday, August 18th at 1:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Richard A. Leiby officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
