Earl R. Schaeffer

Earl R. Schaeffer, 88, of Oley, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 in the Reading Hospital where he was a patient since Oct. 29th.

He was the husband of Edith R. (Troxel) Schaeffer. They celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Born in Fleetwood, he was a son of the late Edwin and Edna (Stahler) Schaeffer.

He was employed in the fitting department at the former Stanley G. Flagg, Co., Stowe for many years prior to retiring and was an Army Veteran.

Earl enjoyed Country music, traveling, Nascar, the Reading Phillies and the Reading Royals and Hershey Bears hockey teams.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a Son: Barry Schaeffer and wife Christy of Reading and a Daughter-in-law, Anna Mae, widow of James Schaeffer of Gilbertsville. Also his brothers: Edwin Schaeffer of Birdsboro and Donald Schaeffer of Shillington and his sister: Leah O'Neil of Fleetwood. Also his Grandchildren: Barry Schaeffer, Jr. (Kim); Christina Koyste (Jorge) and Bradley Schaeffer (Kristina) Also his Step Grandchildren: Matthew Fuller (Allison) nad Sara Melcher (Justin). He is also survived by his Great Grandchildren: Alex, Kelsey, Lindsey, Morgan, Kayla, Devin, Julian, Jahdiel and Jovanny. He was predeceased by his sons: William Schaeffer and James Schaeffer and a Great Grandaughter: Desire Schaeffer. He was also predeceased by 10 Brothers and Sisters.

Services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main Street, Oley. Interment will follow in Spies (Zion) Cemetery, Alsace Township. Friends and family may view on Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm and on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am in the funeral home.
