Earl L. Kantner, 74, of Woodland Drive, Rockland Township, died Oct. 12 at 12:08 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient for one week.

He was the husband of Carolyn K. (Schaeffer) Kantner.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Earl L. and Helen (Keller) Kantner.

Kantner had been employed for 30 years by General Battery Corp., Reading, until his retirement. Kantner later worked for five years at Grafika Commercial Printing Inc., Sinking Spring.

He was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Kantner was a life member of both the Temple Fire Company and Central Fire Company, Laureldale.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Linda (Billman) Gumbert, Muhlenberg Township, and Phyllis (Billman) Goerner, Womelsdorf.

There are also two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-granddaughters.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Viewing Noon untiil time of service. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
