Earl F. Gilbert

Earl F. Gilbert, 84 of Shoemakersville died April 5th in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township. He was the husband of Ardene M. (True) Gilbert of Shoemakersville and recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Earl was born in Shoemakersville and was the son of the late Francis E. and Esther M. (Wagner) Gilbert. He worked as a Prudential Sales Agent in the Hamburg Area from 1952 to 1982 when he retired. He then worked as a messenger for 15 years for Core States Bank, now Wachovia. He was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville and an Air Force Veteran of WWII. He graduated from Perry High School in 1943 and was a charter member of Central Berks Fire Company, Centerport and a 50 year member of Shoemakersville Fire Company. In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by 1 daughter, Gayle wife of James Hepner, Shoemakersville, 1 brother, Richard H. Gilbert, Knightdale, NC and 2 granddaughters, Jennifer and Kristy Hepner. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM from St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, Tilden Township.
