E. Raymond Hamilton

Evans Raymond Hamilton, 92, died September 19, 2009 in his Laureldale residence.

He was the husband of Carolyn Marie (Hontz) Hamilton.

Born in Philadelphia on April 12, 1917, he was a son of Stanley B. and Nellie M. (Youse) Hamilton.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Raymond was a 1934 graduate of Upper Darby High School.

He was employed 43 years as an engineer with the Reading Railroad, retiring May 27, 1980.

Raymond was a member of the Reading Technical Society and the Berks County Senior Orchestra.

He was the former owner and operator of Reading Rail Rambler Tours for 29 years.

Raymond is also survived by a daughter, Barbara E. (Hamilton) Rankin of Maidencreek Township and a sister, Evelyn (Hamilton) Spies of Reading.

Other survivors include two grandchildren: Christine M. Rankin of New Hartford, New York and Cindy A. Rankin of Mount Penn.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. James C. Covert officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
