E. George Shiels

E. George Shiels, 87, passed away on October 20,2021, at the Reading Hospital.

He was the devoted husband of the late Gloria Clare Shiels, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Orange, N.J., he was the son of the late Michael Joseph Shiels Sr. and Margaret Mary (Kennedy) Shiels.

George was a graduate of St. Michael's High School, Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Japan.

George worked for Unisys Corporation as a computer systems manager for 23 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist de LaSalle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington, PA.

George was a beloved Father, Pop Pop, and Great Pop Pop. He exemplified what a true gentleman is and showered us with his optimism and love daily.

George is survived by two children, Mark G. husband of Kathryn P. Shiels, London England and Maureen A. wife of Dominic W. Parisi, Mohnton, PA. He is survived by one brother, John, husband of Ruth Shiels, NJ. Pop pop is survived by four grandchildren whom he adored and cherished: Brittany, wife of Meet Doshi, Brooklyn, NY; Tyler Parisi, Philadelphia; Jameson Parisi, Mohnton, and Aidan Parisi, Mohnton; and his great grandson, Henry Shiels Doshi. George was predeceased by his son Kevin Shiels and his brother Michael Joseph Shiels, Jr.
