Dr. Mauro J. Paolini, 84, of Wyomissing, died August 2, 2014 at The Highlands of Wyomissing. Born in Reading on December 13, 1929, he was a son of the late John and Rosalie (Stella) Paolini.
He graduated from Reading Catholic High School (1947), Albright College (1956) and University of Pennsylvania Medical School (1960).
He completed his pediatric residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 1963. He was a founding partner of The Children's Clinic of Wyomissing and was on the staff of the Reading Hospital and Medical Center from 1963-2000. He also served on the staffs of St. Joseph's Hospital, Community General Hospital and Wernersville State Hospital.
Dr. Paolini was a dedicated physician for 37 years and made his life's work caring for the children of our community.
Mauro also served on the board of directors and as president of the Children's Home of Reading. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by Nelda Ann (Harting) Paolini, his loving wife of 57 years, four children: Michael J. (Rebecca), Sinking Spring, David A., Wyomissing, Matthew J.(LeeAnn), Wyomissing and Steven M. (Marion), New York, NY; five grandchildren: Christopher, Evan, Benjamin, Lucy and Elise; two great grandchildren: Hailey and Lillian; and three siblings: Philomena, Robert and Richard. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa E. Paolini and his brothers Carmen, John and Eugene.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, August 22, 2014 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA. 19611.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children's Home of Reading.
