Douglas R. Nelson

Douglas R. Nelson, 65, of Bern Township, passed away May 7, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital.

He was the husband of Susan G. (Person) Nelson. They married on June 15, 1974.

Born in Sioux Falls, SD, he was a son of the late Virgil H. and Judith Nelson.

He was a graduate of Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He worked for Campbell Soup from 1973- 2001. For the past ten years, he worked at Albright College and was affectionately known as "Doug the Mailman."

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Scott A., husband of Jaime G. Aldie, VA; Shannon L., wife of Andrew Karetas, Spring City, PA and Heather A., wife of Jason Deitz, Shillington, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Grace and Asher Nelson; Kaeleigh and Aidan Karetas and Drew and Jake Deitz. Other survivors include one brother, Ronald, husband of Diann Nelson, Sioux Falls, SD.

Douglas was predeceased by his brother, David Nelson.

Services will be Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 at 1 P.M. in Merner-Pfeifer-Klein Memorial Chapel at Albright College, 1621 N. 13th St, Reading, PA 19604. Burial will be private. Viewing will be Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, Pa. Contributions may be made in honor of Doug to: The Albright College Annual Fund â"
