Douglas "Dusty" A. Longenecker, 64, passed away January 24, 2010 in his Green Hills Lake residence after a 4 month battle with cancer.

He was the husband of Helen A. (Boulanger) Longenecker, whom he married 39 years ago on December 12, 1970.

Douglas was born in Reading on September 29, 1945. He was a son of the late Samuel and Margret (Stiely) Longenecker.

He was a 1963 graduate of Wilson High School. He then received his B.S. from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1970 and his Masters in Library Science in 1974.

Douglas retired as a Librarian from the Reading School District.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a Helicopter Rescue Air Crewman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three step children: Kevin, husband of Kathy Moleski, Spring Township, and their daughter, Katelyn; Kerry, husband of Kim Moleski, Cumru Township, and their daughters, Megan Moleski, Emily Moleski and Karen (Schaeffer) Moleski, companion of Kenneth Johnson, and Karen's daughter, Jessica (Schaeffer), wife of Eric Pottiger.

Also surviving are three siblings: Lee, wife of Julie Longenecker, Sinking Spring; Marilyn, wife of the late Frank Poore, Wyomissing and Patricia, wife of the late Robert Rentshler, Reading.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society: 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605 or Wyomissing (Gouglersville) U.C.C.: 2 Vermont Road, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
