Douglas H. Lesher, 73 of Reading died April 28th in St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife Christine F. Lesher. Douglas was born in Perry Township and was the son of the late Herman R. and Mae I. (Schappell) Lesher. Douglas was a self employed farmer, and worked as an independent contractor for Select Sires for 30 years. He was last employed as a self employed milk hauler for 10 years. He was a 1956 graduate of Perry High School and a member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle. He was also a member of the Sunnyside Rod & Gun Club in Clinton County. Douglas is survived by 5 sons: Douglas E.husband of Christina Lesher, Fleetwood, Dwight D. husband of Shannon Lesher, Hamburg, Michael S. husband of Amy Lesher, Shoemakersville, Mark I husband of Shelly Lesher, Hamburg and Bruce A. Lesher, Hamburg; step children Carla Simpson, Nicole Simpson, Joshua Border and Ezra Border; 10 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dolly Adams, Boyertown and Janice wife of Daryl Werley, Shoemakersville; and 2 brothers: Dennis G. husband of Margaret Lesher, Perry Township and Donald E. husband of Donna Lesher, Shoemakersville. Douglas was predeceased by a sister, Rita Mae Lesher in 1947 and a daughter Judith A. Lesher on August 24, 1997. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4that 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th St., Hamburg. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
