Douglas J. "Doug" DeArment, 72, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Debra (Donzé) DeArment. They shared 20 years of love, laughter and wonderful memories.
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, he was the son of Wallace "Wally" and the late Doris (Ott) DeArment. Doug attended St. George's Elementary Grade School, Kennedy Christian High School, and finally graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science. He began his career as the City Engineer and then the Public Works Director for the city of Sharon, PA, until 1986 when his family relocated to Sinking Spring. He worked for the American Water Company as the Manager of Operations until his retirement in 2011.
Doug enjoyed his retirement being outdoors, going glamping in his RV, and working in his garden. Family was very important to Doug, and he made sure to spend as much time as possible with them, creating special memories. His unconditional love, zest for life, and his contagious laughter will love on through all of us. To know him was to love him.
In addition to his wife, Doug's legacy of love is continued by his children: Lisa DeArment (Rachel), and Jennifer DeArment; his step-children: Nicole O'Brien (Breen), Krystine Giddens (Anthony), Brooke Simons (Andrew), and Alaina Simons (Kurt); his grandchildren: Ananda, Ava, Alexa, Blake, Lila, Macy, Kinsley, Maclan, Skylar, and Colton; as well as his siblings: Gary DeArment, Diane Gammell, Tom DeArment, Lori Plunker, Daniel DeArment, and Michael DeArment. He was predeceased by his sister, Michelle Byerly. He leaves behind many friends and family who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Doug's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. Friends and family may gather from 10 a.m. until the beginning of the service.
