Douglas B. Brunner, 84, of West Reading, passed away on March 24, 2025 at the Reading Hospital.
Doug was the husband of Andrea L. (Bream) Brunner; they were married for 55 years.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Winfred D. Brunner and Helen A. (Bitler) Brunner.
He was a graduate of West Reading High School (1958), Temple University School of Pharmacy (1962) and attended Graduate School at the University of Michigan.
He started his pharmaceutical career at Stern's Pharmacy beginning in 1963 until 1982. In 1982 he founded Brunner's Pharmacy and retired in 2007.
He was a past President of the Berks County Pharmacists Association, a Board Member of the Temple University School of Pharmacy Alumni Association, a member of the West Reading Borough Planning Commission and Treasurer of the former Westside Football Association. Additionally, he was a Deacon at the former St. James UC Church in West Reading and a present member of Bausman Memorial UCC in Wyomissing.
Doug enjoyed landscaping in his yard, Temple University sports and attending Wyomissing Area High School athletic events. He tried to get to all his grandchildren's sporting events and cherished spending time with his family and friends at their house in Cape May Beach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen D (Kristie) Brunner and Jason D (Shelby) Brunner all of Wyomissing. Four grandchildren: Aubrey, Darren, Ian and Kaitlyn Brunner all survive him.
He was predeceased by his sister Mildred D. (Brunner) Lipman.
A viewing will be held on Saturday March 29th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a service to begin at 11:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. in West Reading. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
