Dorothy R. "Dottie" Wiest, 87, of West Lawn, died October 18, 2010 in Reading Hospital.
Her husband, Kenneth M. Wiest, died September 5, 1997.
Born in Gibraltar, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (Swatkins) Wolf.
She was a graduate of Wilson High School.
Dottie was a mechanic for the U.S. Navy, serving in WW II. She then became a cosmetologist for over 50 years as the owner/operator of Dottie's Beauty Shop, West Lawn until her retirement in 2008.
She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn and the Reading Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
Dottie is survived by her son, Lionel R. Caldwell, husband of Dollie M. Fowler, Smokestown; and her step-son, Richard, husband of Judy Wiest, Trinidad, CA. There are also two granddaughters, Maria Caldwell and Casey Caldwell; and their mother Christina, as well as Dottie's caregiver, Lish Karkoska. Six step-grandchildren, William Fowler, Christina Fowler Nauman, Alan Wiest, Arik Wiest, Gunther Wiest and Wendy Wiest; four step-great-grandchildren, Shanelle Fowler, Ashley Fowler, Alyssa Fowler and Sabrina Nauman; one nephew, Greg Schwietzer and one niece Terry McDonald also survive her.
She was predeceased by one brother, Harry Wolf and one sister, Eva Schwietzer.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Advent Lutheran Church, 16 Telford Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609. Burial will be private in Sinking Spring Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Advent Lutheran Church at the above address. Edward J.
